The fourth batch at a glance
It is strong on the old commercial streets: a run of late-Qing and Republican buildings on Zhongshan Road (Middle), the former Yongtai Department Store and Yitaichang cloth store, together with the former Boji Hospital, the 1950s Hangda Xincun staff housing, the Dujia Bridge, and more Qing houses and transfer firms at Xixing and Changhe.

What the notice said
The notice cited Hangzhou's measures on historic districts and historic buildings (municipal government order No. 215) and asked for protection plans for this batch and a proposed list for the fifth.
Today the 2013 regulations set out what every listed building's owner and the city must do, whichever batch it came from.

A note on 52 or 49 buildings
English Wikipedia's fourth-batch list has 52 entries. The last three, LSJZ4-50 to LSJZ4-52 (buildings on Wangjiang Road and Hengjixiang Alley), do not appear in the city's notice, which names 49 buildings, nor in the Chinese Wikipedia tables. Until their status can be checked, Hangzhou Memory does not publish pages for them.
